Pithox
A game prototype that outgrew its own 2D pixel art and moved into 3D.

The problem
The original 2D build hit the ceiling of what hand-drawn sprite lighting could sell. The concept needed a third dimension.
Overview
Pithox is my Game Design & Development concentration project. It started as a 2D build, where my focus was pixel-art normal maps so lighting would read correctly on hand-drawn sprites, and has since moved into a full 3D version. We presented it at the Computing Expo.
What I personally did
- Built pixel-art normal maps for the original 2D version's lighting system
- Contributed to the rebuild and transition into the current 3D version
- Designed and developed core gameplay prototype systems
Outcome
- Presented at the KFUPM Computing Expo
- Evolved from a 2D prototype into a full 3D build
