Chrono Flux
A roguelike shooter built around one rule: switch eras or die in the wrong one.
3rd Place · KFUPM Gaming+ Game Jam 2024

The problem
Most roguelike shooters repeat the same fight with reskinned enemies. A run needed to change how you played it, not just how it looked.
Overview
Chrono Flux is a top-down roguelike shooter where every run forces a choice: equip two eras and swap between them mid-combat. Enemies caught outside their native timeline glitch out and hit harder, so every room plays as a timing puzzle as much as a firefight. It started as a two-day jam build called TimeSwitch, took 3rd place at KFUPM Gaming+ 2024, and that result is the reason the same four-person team founded QuadByte Studios through the CODE / MCIT incubator. We're still building it, aiming for a Steam release.
What I personally did
- Built the core gameplay systems: the era-switching state machine, the combat loop, and the glitch behavior enemies trigger when caught out-of-era
- Designed and implemented procedural dungeon generation, weapon and enemy variety, and boss encounters
- Owned UI elements and level-flow/progression systems end to end
- Ran prototype polish passes and playtesting iteration
- Coordinated planning and task breakdown across the 4-person team
Outcome
- 3rd place, KFUPM Gaming+ Game Jam 2024
- Directly led to founding QuadByte Studios
- Accepted into the CODE / MCIT incubator program
- In active development, targeting a Steam release
